Enrollment CHW
CHWs can play a critical role of linking families with children to primary care providers, mental and dental health care services. Despite being qualified for health insurance, some families decline to be enrolled into health insurance programs. This is a barrier to health care among certain cultural communities who mistrust health care providers and health systems. CHWs who reside in these communities can be trained to assess families for enrollment, and increase awareness of the benefits of regular check-up for children to increase uptake of preventative services including recommended vaccinations.
Having health insurance increases access to needed health care services. Enrollment CHWs are trained and knowledgeable about various insurance plans and can support families in completing application forms and uploading the essential required documents on line as well as remind families regarding the re-enrollment process.
